Janet Olney – Fibre/baskets
Artist Bio: I was first introduced to basket weaving in 1984 and was immediately fascinated by this age-old art. I love working with my hands. I love the feel of the material as I shape it into something useful and beautiful. I love the sense of accomplishment I feel when I have created something wonderful out of a pile of reeds. The process is almost magical.
Currently I am experimenting with different forms for my weaving. My work is becoming more organic and eclectic in that I am incorporating a variety of materials to achieve the effects I want. I work intentionally, deliberately, yet I want my work to have a feel of freedom, randomness, and honesty, while always showing that I have control over the materials.

STUDIO 4
Tammi Joy Parsons – Encaustic and Mixed Media Paintings
Artist Bio: I am an emerging, self taught artist, who has long desired to translate and re-interpret the tactile and kinetic world we inhabit. As a visual artist, my work is most often abstract with no allegiance to a particular subject or medium; however, there is a strong emphasis on encaustic painting [a medium and method of painting originally developed by 5th century Greek artists, which literally translates to mean “burning in”.] I’m drawn to the alchemy of paint making and the encaustic process of manipulating both its molten and solid states, sometimes with the addition of photographic imagery and mixed media, to achieve my inner vision for each body of work. Across the entire spectrum, my impetus is to make a statement, evoke a feeling, or capture the nuance of a thing. Nature, conservation, color and texture are most often my muse. www.tammijoyparsons.com
